​"The most challenging aspect of faith is to know the presence of God with certainty.  In our most trying times it can be elusive.  We seek tangible examples or proof that He cares or has suasion over our destiny.  Every person’s journey to the body of Christ is unique, and uniquely important.  My journey was internecine, and, yet, once I had crossed the threshold, it became clear to me that God was a familiar voice, that He had been present with me, in me all along.  But when Jesus revealed that His Kingdom was an interior spiritual one, very few accepted him.  The many believed that the spectre of God was to be awesome, a figure with thunderbolts or rayguns for eyes.  Those whose hearts were truly open to God’s teaching and rule understood the journey into oneself, spiritually, an infinite journey, is also to know God.  I was baptised as a sexagenarian; my professed goal to the Church as a catechumen was “to affirm that the Lord Jesus Christ has been, and forever is my companion and Savior.”
